CHILD FIND - Individuals with Disabilities - Roanoke City Schools is attempting to locate and evaluate children with disabilities from birth to 21 who are not presently enrolled in school. Parents, guardians or anyone knowing of individuals with disabilities should contact Lyn Perry, Special Education/504 Coordinator at 334-539-5173 or come by the special education office located at 119 Mickle St (behind the Board of Education office on Main St.). It is the policy of the Roanoke City Board of Education that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, disability, sex, religion, creed, national origin or age be excluded from participating in or subjected to discrimination under any program, activity or employment. Gifted Services Individuals may be referred for consideration for gifted services by teachers, counselors, administrators, parents or anyone knowing of the individual’s abilities. Additionally, all second-grade students will be observed as potential gifted referrals using a gifted checklist. Information will be gathered in the areas of aptitude, characteristics and performance. At least three indicators of performance at a gifted level must be submitted.
